Tylee Craft Passes Away
Tylee Craft, a former University of North Carolina (UNC) football player, passed away on October 12, 2024, after a two-year battle with a rare form of lung cancer, neuroendocrine carcinoma. Diagnosed in March 2022, Craft’s journey became an inspiring story of determination and strength.
Despite his illness, Craft remained connected to the UNC football team, transitioning into a coaching role after being forced to retire from playing. His unwavering spirit earned him admiration from teammates, coaches, and fans. In 2022, he was honored with the Disney Spirit Award for his courage and positive influence.
The news of Craft’s passing was announced by UNC head coach Mack Brown, who highlighted how Craft fought his illness with grace and positivity. In a touching tribute, teammate JJ Jones wore Craft’s jersey during their game against Georgia Tech and dedicated his touchdown to him. Craft’s family was honored on the field during the game, showing the deep impact he had on the community.
